Hi Rick ,My XFI ,I just removed all the duckwork , advanced the timing + 13" tires front 14" on the back 10 lb PSI over on all as I use it as my truck. I just picked up a 1992 Suzuki Swift ;locked up overheated 4 cylinder, but good 5 speed transmission. I have extra 1992Metro XFI engine and transmission. Can I make a swap ? Will the Geo engine bolt up to the Suzuki transmission or do I have to use the metro transmission ? Which CVC's do I use ? I think I have every thing else on a junker 1992 Geo . I would not go threw all this work if the Swift 4 cyl. was not so clean. THANKS Curly

The auto trans car gets around 32 to 40 mpg and the auto trans robs alot of power. My standard trans metro gets an average of 46 mpg with 240,000 miles. Keep the egr valve clean. If you havn't bought one yet I strongly suggest the manuel trans. Mine still will scratch the tires in second gear and it feels like a gokart.

I have run 185/70-14 tires on the front of my 1991 for over a yr. that's 15% greater distance per axle revolution. so 15% more MPG. 155-12 on the rear. I also run 10% above the Max. PSI on tires less than 3 yrs old. a bit harder ride. The bad news is they rub on some bumps and corners. To the point of bending the fender and cutting the tire. It may be the old springs but next time I will go with 175/70-14. The 14 wheel is off a Swift GT. ATV lug nuts are necessary as the holes are bigger.

I have a 1994 Geo Metro that i was told is not repairable because the a-frame by the frount driver side rusted away from the car does the repairs you explain fix this or do you have to fix it before it gets this bad? I drove the car from the repair shop to my house which was approximately 30 miles and it held up so im just wondering if its as bad as they said and maybe i can fix it the way you say.

3.61
3.87
3.95
Are automatic transmission ratios
3.52
3.79
4.11
4.39
Are the only manual transmission ratios ever put in a Metro. XFI's have the same 3.79 gear ratio as newer four cylinders. There was never a 3.85 or a 3.95 manual transmission Metro, at least not in the states. Maybe they're G16 or AWD ratios, both of those transmissions are a different animal from the standard Metro transmission.

I'm so happy to find this site, I've been fighting this incorrect information for years, now I see where it's coming from.

ANY 4 wire sensor will work? I have an 88 Cherokee where I accidentally ordered the wrong O2 sensor for it. the sensor "appeared" identical but the plug was reversed (it was for the 4cyl Cherokee) so I swapped the plugs and it did NOT run properly.

I eventually gave in and ordered the right O2 sensor and the problems went away almost instantly.

So how do I know which will work? are some different? maybe I just wired it wrong or something when I swapped the plugs??

Just curious anything I can do to make it better is appreciated! (I will have my 94 XFI in 3 more weeks :-)
